The difference between kickboxing and boxing.

A fight is always spectacular, interesting, sporting. She attracts not only men, but women equally. Humanity has come up with so many ways to fill each other with bruises and bumps that you are amazed. Dozens of martial arts, sports, competitions and contests are all about brute physical strength that awakens ancient instincts in people. But if for ordinary spectators this is just a bright sight, then for athletes it is a whole system of exercises. Today we'll talk about boxing and kickboxing: the names are very similar, but the essence is completely different.

Definition

Boxing - comes from the English box, box, ring. Combat sports with certain rules. This is far from a primitive sport, here the strategy of the fight is being honed, various tactics of fighting are being developed. In boxing there is a judge (referee) who monitors compliance with all the rules. The fight usually lasts up to 12 rounds, but can be ended in any of them, if one or both fighters are unable to continue the competition. In the event that after 12 rounds it was not possible to identify the winner by knockout or knockdown, then the judges step in and make their judgments based on the marks scored by the athletes during the competition. The antiquity of this action is beyond doubt. The first boxing fights are also depicted on the Sumerian, Minoan and Egyptian bas-reliefs. Currently, English boxing is considered classic, but almost every country has one or another of its varieties.

Kickboxing - is a harmonious fusion of Muay Thai, English Boxing and Taekwondo. This martial arts does not have such a long history - it appeared only in the sixties of the twentieth century in the wake of the popularity of oriental martial arts. The American and Japanese school of kickboxing differs, which in turn is divided into: full contact, semi-contact, light contact, kick-light. American athletes initially practiced full contact, and there was no limitation of the power of blows, there was no referee, moreover, punches to the head were allowed (thanks to the borrowing of gloves from boxing). The Japanese variety owes its origin to Muay Thai, which was and is incredibly popular. Distinctive features of kickboxing are that in addition to the use of punches, active kicks are allowed here. You simply will not see this in classic boxing, unless the athletes lose control of themselves.

Comparison

It should be noted that with all the differences, these two sports are included in a wide family of martial arts and have many points of contact. However, it is boxing that is a traditional sports form of fights. The rules in it have been developed for hundreds of years, while kickboxing is still a fairly young form of martial arts.

Boxing can be compared with a solid middle-aged man who has taken place in life, who is still full of strength and in the prime of his opportunities. And kickboxing is a kind of constantly changing teenager, ready to play by new rules, which also change quite often.

In boxing, only two hands are used, and even then, many punches with them are prohibited. Kickboxing is much freer in this respect. He uses both arms and legs, in addition, it is allowed to actively use the elbows and knees, which is prohibited in boxing. The set of punches in boxing is noticeably smaller than in kickboxing, but they are more "juicy", as boxers themselves say.

From the point of view of the organizational process, the structures responsible for boxing are clearly defined, while with kickboxing everything is still not clear. There are too many discrepancies and disagreements in different countries on this sport.

Boxing is self-sufficient, and kickboxing borrows a lot from martial arts.
