How to resize a photo.

It is often necessary to resize the images when uploading photos from a DSLR camera. Sending 15-20 megapixel images of 30 megabytes to friends is simply pointless, and the transfer process will take a lot of time. However, there may be other situations in which you need to change the file size and resolution. How do I resize a photo?

First, it is worth clarifying that file size and resolution are two different concepts. The size (size) of a file is the space that an image takes up on disk. Image resolution is the number of pixels vertically and horizontally. Moreover, the higher the resolution of the photo, the larger the file size. But the size of the file is influenced not only by the resolution, but also by the brightness / contrast of the image and its format. It is known that images in TIFF format take up several times more disk space than images in jpeg format.
