Difference between tourist and business visa.

To travel abroad, a citizen of the Russian Federation may need to obtain a visa - for example, a tourist or business visa. What are the features of each of them?

What is a tourist visa?

A tourist visa is usually understood as a visa that:

  • is issued to a person for a relatively short period of time - about 3 months;
  • does not give the right to work in the country that issued the document;
  • is drawn up in the framework of relatively simple procedures and does not require a large number of documents to be submitted to the consulate issuing visas.

Tourist visas are multiple-entry and single-entry. The first give the right to cross the border of the state that issued the document several times - while the visa is valid. The latter only allow the tourist to enter and leave the respective state. In order to visit the country again, you will need a new visa.

To obtain a tourist visa, a traveler most often needs to prepare such documents as:

  • certificate of salary;
  • a check confirming payment for a place in the hotel, or an invitation from the host;
  • a copy of the ticket for the plane, train, bus or other means of transport on which he intends to enter the country that issued the visa;
  • a bank statement showing the amount sufficient for the person to be in the country that issued the visa during the trip;
  • medical insurance.

As a rule, having once obtained a tourist visa does not imply that the traveler will receive any preferences when obtaining visas later. But much in this sense depends on the migration policy of a particular state: sometimes consulates issue visas with a longer validity period to tourists who did not violate the rules of entry and stay in the country.

What is a business visa?

By business it is customary to understand a visa, which:

  • is issued to a person for the period necessary to participate in certain business events (it can be both very short and sufficient large);
  • as in the case of a tourist visa, does not give the right to work in the country that issued the document;
  • is drawn up, as a rule, upon the presentation of an invitation from the host party, which is the applicant's business partner.

The document in question can also be single or multiple. In the migration legislation of many states, a mechanism is enshrined in which a business visa once received by a person gives the right to request a new one for a noticeably long period of time - about 2 years. In this sense, this policy should be considered as an established norm - in contrast to the procedure for issuing tourist visas, when the extension of the validity of new entry documents can be carried out by consulates in a random order or selectively.

To obtain a business visa, you usually need to prepare the same documents as in the case of a tourist visa, but instead of receipts confirming payment for the hotel and tickets, an invitation from the host is often sufficient...

Comparison

The main difference between a tourist visa and a business visa is the potentially longer validity period of the second, due to the need for a long stay of a person in the country that issued the document in order to discuss and sign contracts within the framework of business. In addition, subsequent business visas are often issued for a long period by default, while new tourist visas are more likely to be granted by accident.

Having determined what is the difference between a tourist and business visa, let us fix the conclusions in the table.
