Difference between berries and vegetables

These are not only grapes, currants or lingonberries, but also a tomato, banana, watermelon. As a rule, such formations have juicy pulp. But there are also exceptions. For example, in red pepper - also berries - the seeds are surrounded by free space.

Experts also use the term "false berry". This is the name of the formation, which, developing from the ovary, also captures the nearby tissues of other parts of the plant. For example, the bright shell of a rosehip “berry” is nothing more than an overgrown receptacle. Scientists also do not consider strawberries to be a true berry. After all, the real fruits of such a botanical representative are "specks" scattered over the juicy red outgrowth. Another example of "non-berries" is raspberries. She has no seeds. The fruit in this case consists of many fused drupes.

Before moving on to the main question about the difference between berries and vegetables, let's find out what is called a berry in everyday life? This category in this sense includes anything that looks like a relatively small, often round, fruit and has a sweet or sour flesh. Both real and false berries, and those specimens that in botany are defined as drupes, such as cherries, fall under such a description. But large fruits (kiwi, eggplant, watermelon) in the folk creation are not associated with berries in any way, although according to the scientific classification they are.

With regard to vegetables, this concept is exclusively culinary. This category includes what in the botanical sense is a root (radish, horseradish, carrot), bulb (garlic), leaves (lettuce) and other parts of plants, usually herbaceous. Some berries, such as a tomato, are also vegetables.

Vegetables are always sources of nutrition. They are grown using special technologies as very important crops. Berries also exist in the wild. Not all of them are edible, and some are deadly to humans. Berries can grow quite high, while vegetables are in the ground or close to its surface.

So, from berries, in addition to the use of these gifts of nature in a freshly picked form, desserts are prepared. Moreover, sugar is an additional ingredient here. Vegetables are essential for the preparation of side dishes, snacks, and a variety of hearty dishes. At the same time, salt is usually added to improve the taste of the products. Vegetables are also eaten raw, but more often they are boiled, fried, or otherwise cooked.
