The difference between batteries of direct and reverse polarity.

Car batteries are divided into 2 types - those with direct polarity and those with reverse polarity. What is the specificity of those and other batteries?

What are straight polarity batteries?

The polarity is understood as the location of the current-carrying structural elements of the battery - the terminals - on its surface (for example, on the cover). It is considered straight if the "plus" of the battery is on the left and the "minus" is on the right. In this case, the battery should be turned with its face towards the car owner (the terminals are in many cases closer to it, and if not, then it is easy to identify it by the battery label).

Battery terminals are therefore indicated by "" or "-".

Mainly batteries with straight polarity are produced for Russian and Asian cars.

What are reverse polarity batteries?

The polarity is considered to be reversed if, in turn, the plus of the battery is on the right and the minus is on the left. Of course, also on condition that the battery is turned to face the car owner.Typically, reverse polarity batteries are available for American and European vehicles.

Comparison

The main difference between batteries of direct polarity and batteries of reverse polarity is, in fact, in the location of the "plus" and "minus" terminals. The appearance of the devices, as well as their functionality, can be almost identical (especially if they are produced by the same brand for the same vehicle category).

However, it is highly undesirable to install on a car designed for batteries of direct polarity, batteries in which the terminals are located in a different way. If the polarity is violated, then the electronics in the car will not work, or even completely fail. In addition, the design of many machines simply does not allow the correct connection of batteries that are not of the correct polarity.

When choosing a battery, you can focus on the country that owns the car brand. If this is Russia or, for example, Japan, then the car most likely needs a battery of direct polarity. If this is the USA or Germany, then it will probably be necessary to use devices with terminals located opposite.

Having determined what is the difference between batteries of direct and reverse polarity, we fix the conclusions in a small table.
