The difference between a jaguar and a leopard.

A little task: let's close our eyes and imagine a leopard. Feline grace, spots on the skin, long tail, powerful paws - that's right. Now let's try to imagine a jaguar. Is it really the same leopard before your eyes? Hmm, maybe the reason lies in the fact that we do not know enough about these predators, their differences?

Jaguar is an animal with the following typological characteristics:

Class : mammals;

Order : predatory;

Family : felines;

Genus : panthers;

Species : jaguar.

In leopard all characteristics are identical, except for the last one, which reads: species: leopard. In fact, both the jaguar and the leopard are species of panthers. Jaguars live in South, Central and partly North America. And leopards are found in Africa and Asia.

Also, the leopard has a significantly longer tail, it can be more than a meter in length. The color of the skin also has its own characteristics in each case: the spots on the skin of the jaguar are collected in rosettes with a central spot, but the skin of a leopard does not have a spot in the center of such rosettes. It is believed that jaguars swim much better than leopards. A person is usually attacked by leopards, which are old and / or wounded and cannot hunt their usual prey - animals. But jaguars attack a person in self-defense. In general, both do this infrequently. If male leopards fight for a female, then jaguars almost never do this, in their prides the female chooses a partner. The image of a leopard, like a lion, is often used in heraldry (that is, on coats of arms), where the jaguar is not popular.
