How to get to startup?.

Many programs in the Windows operating system are loaded automatically immediately after starting the OS - along with the desktop. Sometimes the user needs to manually configure startup applications. How to do it? How do I get into the Windows "startup" in order to edit the list of programs that start automatically?

There are several ways to solve this problem:

Let's study in more detail how each method is used using the Windows 7 interfaces, at the moment the most popular OS version from Microsoft.

Configuring autostart of programs through the Start menu

This method - although not the most effective, but extremely simple. You need to click on "Start", then select "All Programs", then - open the "Startup" folder. Perhaps the program that we want to exclude from the list of those launched with Windows is located there. If so, right-click on it, then select the "Delete" item.

With a certain probability, the corresponding program will stop automatically loading along with Windows. But, as a rule, the startup of applications in Windows is registered not only in the form of a shortcut located in the Start menu, but also in special OS files. These can be accessed through the System Configuration program. It is included with Windows.

Configuring startup via "System Configuration"

The "System Configuration" application is the most important tool for managing the automatic launch of Windows programs. How to get to the startup menu of this application?

First of all, you need to start the "System Configuration" interface. To do this, click the "Start" button, then enter msconfig in the search bar. An alternative and equally simple way: press the Win key combination (a Microsoft flag is drawn on it) and R, and then enter the same thing in the opened line - msconfig.

In the window that opens, select the "Startup" tab, after which you will be able to see which programs can be configured to automatically start simultaneously with Windows. Opposite those that should be loaded with the operating system at the moment, there are ticks. You can remove them, and the corresponding applications will stop starting automatically - immediately after clicking the OK button after finishing the work with the window. Later, of course, you are allowed to configure their autoload again.

In some cases, the "System Configuration" application, despite the fact that it works with the system files that are responsible for startup, is not able to disable the automatic launch of certain programs. This may be due to the fact that the corresponding types of software "calculate" that their autorun is deactivated and again "register" it in the system files. Windows OS does not block such activity by default.

What to do in this case - if the application, the launch of which in automatic mode is undesirable, continues to load, despite the fact that the checkbox opposite it in the "System Configuration" was unchecked by the user?

You can try to work with the Windows registry. This method is somewhat more complicated than the first two, but it is potentially the most effective.

Controlling startup programs through the Windows registry

The procedure for starting the registry editor is very similar to the one we described above for "System Configuration": you need to click on "Start", then enter in the search bar redegit command. Or - the same word in the window, which can be opened with the Win and R keyboard shortcut.

The Registry Editor is somewhat similar to Windows Explorer. It has a root directory - "Computer", as well as folders with various settings. We are interested in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder. Having selected it, then we indicate Software. After - go to the Microsoft folder. Then - select Windows, Current Version, Run. It is by editing the contents of the Run folder that the "autoload" is configured.

The names of the files displayed in the corresponding window usually correspond to the names of the programs that should be launched automatically. In order to disable the startup of a particular application, you can delete the corresponding item (by right-clicking and selecting the desired option). Another option is to rename the access address to the application executable file, which is visible in the "Value" column. If you do this, then Windows will not be able to find it and start automatically. If necessary, you can reactivate the startup of the corresponding program - if you restore the original address of the file associated with it.

Editing the registry, as a rule, gives a guaranteed result. If the file associated with the program is deleted from the Run folder, then the corresponding application should not start.

We now know how to get into Windows "startup" using basic methods. But in addition to them, you can use one more. We are talking about using third-party programs designed to manage startup.

Third-party programs for configuring "startup"

Among the most famous and widespread solutions of this type are Autoruns. You can download this program here - https://technet.microsoft.com/ru-ru/sysinternals/bb963902, it is free.

The Autoruns application is a very powerful solution for configuring Windows startup. It detects almost all system files and associations in the registry that are related to the corresponding function of the operating system, and classifies them into different categories.

You can select a tab that displays the startup settings for programs that are launched directly at login. Or the one where absolutely all the options related to the automatic launch of applications in Windows are recorded. The principle of working with the settings here is the same as in the "System Configuration" - you need to check and uncheck the boxes in front of the programs of interest.

There are quite a few other solutions that can be used to customize Windows startup. For example, Quick Startup (available here - http://www.glarysoft.com/quick-startup/ ) or CCleaner (can be downloaded on this page - http://ccleaner.org.ua / download / ). The interface of these programs, as in the case of Autoruns, is also very simple and logical.
