How to bake potatoes in the oven?

Potatoes are so popular in our country that the dishes made from them seem to be primordially Russian. In fact, this vegetable first appeared on the tables of noble boyars in the era of Peter the Great - the autocrat literally forced his subjects to eat the "forbidden fruit". For more than two centuries, the people grumbled and resisted innovation, there were even riots. But in the 20th century, hundreds of recipes suddenly appeared on how to bake potatoes in the oven, on the grill or in ordinary ash.

At the same time, instead of the derogatory name "devil's apple", a new one came into use - "second bread". No wonder, because it is extremely difficult to imagine a more common and favorite side dish. Today potatoes are very popular all over the world: they are eaten with pleasure in America, Europe and Asia.

Russian housewives have long learned to take the best from world gastronomy, in order to then creatively process and surprise household members with culinary art. Moreover, each chef has a priority in his own way of baking aromatic potatoes. Conventionally, several basic options can be distinguished.

Option number 1 - traditional and juicy

It is believed that before sending the tubers to the oven, they should be marinated. Mayonnaise is best suited for this purpose. For a kilogram of potatoes, 1-2 tablespoons of mayonnaise and a large onion, cut into half rings, are taken. Plus salt and your favorite spices. For some, these are suneli hops with a bright Caucasian taste, for others - dry adjika or curry. Fresh herbs - dill, cilantro, or a couple of parsley sprigs never hurt.

After thoroughly mixing the ingredients, add a few chopped cloves of garlic to a bowl. In the process of cooking, the smell will tease the sense of smell and whet a brutal appetite. After letting the potatoes brew for about ten minutes, put the semi-finished product on a baking sheet, set the oven to 200 degrees and bake the dish until soft. This usually takes about an hour.

This recipe has many varieties that are associated with the characteristics of the marinade. For example, you can add a spoonful of mustard or some grated carrots to mayonnaise. In the first case, the dish will acquire a special piquancy, and in the second - brightness.

Potatoes in sour cream are amazingly good. For a kilogram of tubers, you will need a 200-gram glass of not the most fatty fermented milk product and one broth cube (preferably with a mushroom flavor). Salt and spices are not needed in this case. But on the shores of the Adriatic, to bake potatoes in the oven, they will take a little olive oil, a drop of balsamic vinegar and oregano with basil, adored by all Italians.

Option number 2 - convenient and effective

Novice housewives may worry that the potatoes will turn out to be too dry or simply not baked.
