Difference between hand and foot.

Both the hand and the foot occupy the final position in the structure of the limbs. Also, they both consist of many bones connected in a strict order. However, there is a significant difference between these parts of the arms and legs.

The structure of the hand and foot

Hand each of the upper limbs ends. The bones of this section of the arm are arranged in three rows. The first is the wrist. Its structure contains several tightly bonded small bones. The middle row is formed by long metacarpal bones. And, finally, the final segment of the skeleton of the hand is represented by the bones of five fingers located separately from each other. The fragments that make up each finger are called phalanges.

The foot is a section of each of the lower limbs. Like a hand, it consists of three groups of bones. The posterior group is called the tarsal group. It consists of segments of a non-oblong shape. The metatarsus, formed by five elongated bones, adjoins this site. Then the fingers, consisting of phalanges, follow.

Comparison

Thus, a noticeable difference between the hand and the foot lies in their structure. If you compare the wrist and tarsus, you can see how much they differ in size. The wrist is much shorter. It consists of eight small bones. The tarsus is formed by seven bones, and they are the largest.

The structure of the hand and foot

The metacarpal and metatarsal bones are visually similar. But there is a very clear difference between the fingers of the two types of limbs. On the hands, they are much longer, while the thumb is noticeably displaced and located below the rest. On the foot, the toes are located one to one. They are less powerful than the fingers of the hand.

By the way, there is some difference in the names of the fingers. So, on the hand, each of them is indicated by a word. The first one is called big. It is followed by the index, middle, unnamed. The last is the little finger. On the legs, only two extreme fingers have a verbal designation: thumb and little finger. The rest are numbered: 2nd, 3rd, 4th.
