Difference between Chechens and Dagestanis.

Indeed, despite the fact that they came from a common root, it happened long ago, and over the past time each nation has made its own historical path, not always associated with the North Caucasus. For example, the Chechens, according to many historians, are the descendants of the Hurrian tribes that occupied vast territories in the Middle East and Mesopotamia in the 3rd millennium BC. This is indicated by the similarity between the Chechen and Hurrian languages and some elements of pagan mythology.

A number of ethnic groups that arose quite late in the North Caucasus are also attributed to the Dagestan peoples. These are, first of all, some Turkic peoples - Kumyks and Nogais, who are descendants of the medieval nomads of the Great Steppe. In 2000, Dagestan adopted an official list of the indigenous small-numbered peoples of the republic, which includes both Akkins - a sub-ethnos of Chechens, and Russians. The list consists of 14 nations.
